Bad Hair Day

First off....Connor has an ugly haircut in this picture too. We will never buzz his head again. I guess we both were meant to have longer hair.

I don't know if every woman goes through an ugly phase after giving birth, but I sure did with Abi. I wasn't dropping the weight as quickly as I had with Connor and I just felt boring and ugly.

I had sitting on the mantle a photograph of our little family shortly before we left Hawaii. I had a relatively cute hairstyle and thought that I should get the same haircut.

Tonya and Ken were visiting at the time and the encouraged me to go and get my haircut. So I grabbed that picture off of the mantle and took it to the beauty school that wasn't too far from our place. I showed the hairstylist the picture and asked if I had enough hair that I could donate it to "Locks of Love". She assure me that I did and that they had done this "tons before."

She took me over to the sink, which seemed a little odd, seeing as how Locks of Love asks that the hair given to them be dry. So she had to blow-dry my hair. She was just about to start whacking at my hair, when I asked her to put it in a rubberband so it could remain together. So she put it in a rubberband, and being a pest, I asked for two pig-tails, just to be sure that she would only take off what she needed. She said it was going to be okay in one ponytail. So one ponytail it was.

She placed the scissors in her hands and was preparing to cut my hair....BELOW the rubberband. I stopped her and said, "I think you are supposed to cut above the rubberband so the hair stays bound together." She said, "Let me get a supervisor." The supervisor confirmed my thoughts....and stayed to watch. I think she could sense my nervousness.

The cutting began and the hair on the right side of my head fell right at my shoulders. I breathed much easier. The cutting continued and finally fell to my left side. AT MY CHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could not control my emotions. The tears began to fall down my face, and quickly the supervisor assured me that they would "create a short and sexy bob." My reply was, "the last time I had my hair this short was in 7th grade, and I look back at pictures and I hate it."

They tried to fix it, but the back was beyond help. I have since had the back trimmed 3 more times to just try and even out the thing, and it still has empty spots. It's just hair, it will grow back. In the meantime, everytime I look in the mirror, I have an ugly day.

So, lesson learned, if you are feeling ugly after you have a baby, go buy a new outfit. If you feel ugly when you put it on, it is easy to return and doesn't take as long to get something else you will like.
