I purchase the paint when Lowe's was having their Memorial Day Sale (they had a rebate for Valspar Paint) and I also had a 20% off coupon, so with two gallons of American Tradition by Valspar's Hampton Surf Blue, I got to work....just two coats later, a peel of the tape (and some MAJOR touching up on the white stripes) we were ready to put this galaxy together!My dad printed out the planets on his massive printer. They are on a heavy vinyl and I sprayed two coats of clear varnish over the top to prevent them from getting ruined by greasy fingers and things of a childlike nature. We used a 3M spray adhesive to get them to adhere to the wall, and rolled them on to make sure there would be no air bubbles.
The sun on the ceiling, my dad printed on a lighter paper (seeing as how the kids SHOULDN'T be able to reach up there) in the hopes that gravity would not pull it out of orbit. Connor got those cute glow-in-the-dark stars for Christmas in his stocking.
The lettering is just your run-of-the-mill vinyl that my dad cut out. If you are interesting in having a room like this of your own, he wants me to tell you that it will cost $1,000. I think my dad is sick of me asking for his help on these projects and is saying these things to get me to stop asking. HA! We still have to finish a jungle in Abi's room!

Did Pluto get left off the wall, or do you vote that Pluto is still a planet?
I don't care enough about Pluto's identity to really provide a strong argument about whether or not it's a planet. But it could provide Connor an opportunity to learn more about the solar system.
Holy cow! AWSOME!!! I think you can leave the window alone BUT I think you need to put a moon next to Uranus and name it Miranda. Google it...there really is a moon named Miranda :0) I think the room will be complete after that :0)

It looks fantastic! I think if you really want a window treatment it should be something light (both in color and in fabric weight). Maybe just a sheer or something. Your kids will probably ruin that though, so I think your safer to just do without!
I love the ceiling with the sun and the stars, but shouldn't there be stars among the planets too? Maybe just some ordinary vinyl stars? Of course that might make the room too busy.
