O Christmas Tree

Todd and I spent Friday morning out shopping like many other people in the world, however, we were latecomers and didn't head out the door til 8am.  My sister came to watch the kids while Todd and I enjoyed 6 solid hours of alone time shopping!!!  How much fun is that?!?  We got 3/4 of our Christmas shopping done as well as purchasing a Christmas Tree and decorations.

Todd is very excited about Christmas this year (and who am I kidding, I am too) because we will be celebrating Christmas in our own home with our own little family.  Connor absolutely gets the whole Christmas thing and loves to sing Christmas songs.  Our favorite is when he sings "Santa Clause is Goin' Down", you know the tune..."Santa Clause is Comin' to Town."  I am also quite impressed with little Abigail and her knowledge of the nativity.  As I was laying it out she asked me "Where's the angel?"  We don't have an angel with our nativity...too bad.  But she got the rest of the figurines with their names right.

As soon as we got home from our shopping (no lines, and no frustations...it was a success) Todd began constructing our tree and the kids were ecstatic.  I tried to get as much "trimming" done before I had to go to work, but it took me three days until the tree was completely finished (I had to work Friday and Saturday).

My own children have done marvelously at not touching the tree.  Not a single ornament has been removed by their hands...yet.  We did have some friends over the other night and their son came upstairs to use the bathroom, but it was very quiet for some time, so we came upstairs to check on him (we were downstairs watching "Sons of Provo") and he had taken all of the fake presents that were in the tree down and placed them under the tree and informed me that "presents belong under the tree, not in it."  My mistake.

Your tree is beautiful. I didn't even have to work Friday and Saturday and my decorating still isn't done. Good job!

I think I'll chuckle the rest of the season when I hear "Santa Claus is Goin' Down." That's pretty good.

I LOVE the tree MEL!!! It looks so wonderful!!!! You are such a good decorator! LOVE IT! So the count down is on and we will be there in 20 days!!!!!!!!! I can hardly wait! And don't feel bad about not coming for Brian's Baptism, it is at a bad time and I KNOW you would come if you could. So...just start saving up so you can come to San Diego when we get sealed in the Temple next year! I think it June or July!!!!

I love the tree, and way to go on the shopping! Eric got up early and made the rounds for me so I could sleep-in...he came home empty handed because none of the savings were good enough for him to stand in a line that wrapped around the store three times! I don't blame him. It was fun to see you at Midnight Madness, I hope I didn't get you in trouble...oops!

Oh Mel...you are so talented! That tree is beautiful and I am so glad you get to celebrate in your own house! How exciting! I know the feeling of Christmas being a little less warm when you don't have all your own decorations and everything. My wrapping paper tree taped to the wall last year just didn't cut it. Have a merry merry Christmas! How could you not when Santa is going down?!
